Taiwan Passport Redesign

Graphic design: Fang zhi hong
Illustration: Jean Yang

Taipei city was officially designated by Icsid as the world design capital 2016. The event motivates local designers to reflect on the existing government designed projects in Taiwan. Among the government design projects, our team focus on redesign Taiwan’s Passport. The passport represents a country’s culture and values. However, as time passing, the culture and values have changed. As a result, our team wants to reimagine  the symbol that can represent current Taiwan.

On the cover page, we replace the symbol of previous political identity with the symbol of the shape of the island, which is more suitable to represent current Taiwan’s identity. In addition, we put many significant scenes and endemic animals into the inside pages in order to introduce the beauty of Taiwan to the world.
